Jean S. Greek, DVM, DACVD

Jean Swingle Greek obtained her DVM at the University of Wisconsin in 1990. She then completed a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1993, she completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania's College of Veterinary Medicine and successfully completed her board certification later that year.

After becoming one of fewer than 100 board certified dermatologists, she joined Veterinary Specialists of Kansas City, the largest referral practice in the Midwest. In 2003, Dr. Greek joined California Animal Referral & Emergency Hospital, the only specialty & referral practice in Santa Barbara County. CARE Hospital offers services in emergency, critical care, internal medicine, surgery and oncology to assure that hospitalized animals receive the best possible care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Dr. Greek has published numerous articles on the subject of veterinary dermatology in veterinary journals and is a frequent lecturer to veterinarians and lay people on problems of skin. She lives with her physician husband, Ray Greek, and their myriad critters including dogs, cats, horses and goats. In the spring of 2000, the Greeks had their first book, Sacred Cows and Golden Geese published by Continuum. The book examines the scientific fallacy of using animal experimentation to profit humans.
