Andrea Wells, DVM, Diplomate DACVIM
In November 2004, CARE Hospital expanded services to include internal medicine. Dr. Andrea Wells came to us with expertise in abdominal ultrasound, echocardiography, endoscopy, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and chemotherapy. Dr. Andrea Wells earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis. She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Purdue University. Following her internship, Dr. Wells returned to UC Davis where she completed her residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine.Dr. Wells has received multiple awards, including the award for best ACVIM Abstract Presentation in Endocrinology and the ACVIM Walthum Young Investigator Award for research, The Lagniappe Smith Memorial Award for Clinical Proficiency and Teaching and the Pharmacia J. Oliver Scholarship for Small Animal Medicine. She has published and presented research on alternative treatment for feline hyperthyroidism. Dr. Wells lectures frequently on subjects including management of diabetes, proteinuria, Cushing’s disease and liver disorders, providing a source of continuing education to local veterinarians. A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal medicine, Dr. Wells has worked in a variety of specialty care settings in San Diego, CA prior to joining CARE Veterinary Hospital. She has extensive experience with abdominal and cardiac ultrasound, percutaneous biopsies and endoscopy. Dr. Wells has a special interest in endocrinology and gastroenterology. Dr. Wells feels that a multi-specialty practice provides the most comprehensive approach to patient care and welcomes the opportunity to work closely with referring veterinarians and other specialists to provide pets with the most thorough and advanced medical care.
